Education

Education builds knowledge, confidence and opportunity. Everyone should have a fair chance to learn.

Education

Education happens in classrooms, homes, workplaces and communities. It helps people develop knowledge, practise skills and make choices about their lives. Learning also helps us understand each other. It gives us tools to take part in public decisions.

Why it matters

Access alone is not enough. Students need safe spaces, skilled teachers and materials they can use and understand. Cost, conflict, discrimination, disability barriers and limited internet access can make learning harder. UNESCO’s education work focuses on making quality learning available throughout life.

Take action

Think about what helps you learn and what might be different for someone else. You could support peer tutoring, help make learning materials accessible or ask students how school could better meet their needs. Useful changes begin with learners’ needs. Students should have a voice in how they learn.

The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows.
