Founded in 1999 and launched online in 2000, TakingITGlobal has grown from an early online community into a network of learning opportunities, resources and support for youth action. Our motto—Inspire, Inform, Involve—continues to guide our work.

We believe young people have an essential role in shaping their communities and the world. We make space for different voices, cultures and perspectives, and create opportunities for young people to learn, contribute and lead.
Our work connects global citizenship, environmental stewardship and student voice. We encourage respect for one another, responsibility for the planet, and meaningful youth participation in the decisions that affect their lives.
Young people have ideas and the desire to make a difference, but access to resources, learning opportunities and support is uneven. Political, social, economic and cultural barriers can keep them from participating.
We help young people build their confidence and skills, connect with others, and find practical ways to act on the issues they care about.
Youth: We create opportunities to explore global issues, develop skills and turn ideas into community action. Support is designed for young people at different stages of engagement, from taking a first step to leading a project.
Educators: We connect classrooms with global perspectives through technology, interactive learning and resources that support student voice.
Organizations: We work with youth-led and youth-serving organizations to share knowledge, broaden access to opportunities and strengthen youth leadership.

It is with respect, humility and kindness that our team would like to acknowledge the land that nourishes us.
We acknowledge our interconnectedness and are thankful for the water that flows and life that grows each day. Our organization is comprised of a team from many diverse backgrounds who are situated on Indigenous lands across many First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities. In this context, we approach our work with a shared responsibility in upholding treaty agreements and awareness of the ancestors who have come before us, along with the impact of our efforts for generations to come.
