Digital Literacy

Digital literacy means knowing how to use digital tools well and with care. It includes finding and checking information. We also use these skills to create and share work. Knowing how to open an app is only one part of understanding how it works and what it asks of you.

Why it matters

Online content can inform or mislead, and messages asking for personal details may be scams. Check who is behind a source and compare important claims before sharing them. Use strong, unique passwords and available security settings. The ITU Academy offers opportunities to develop digital knowledge and skills.

Take action

Try comparing how several sources cover the same story, or help someone practise a skill they want to learn. If online harassment occurs, seek support and use the platform’s reporting tools. Explore digital citizenship to learn how online choices connect with rights and responsibilities.
