What is Connected North?

Connected North is an innovative initiative by TakingITGlobal that leverages technology to deliver live, interactive learning sessions to students in remote and Indigenous communities. By connecting classrooms with experts, role models, and content providers, the program fosters engagement, supports cultural identity, and inspires curiosity and learning.

• 200 Schools Served: Connected North reached 200 schools across Canada, expanding its footprint and impact in northern and remote areas.
• 7,750 Live Sessions Delivered: Students participated in 7,750 live, interactive sessions, bringing diverse learning opportunities directly into their classrooms.
• 37,113 Students Engaged: The program engaged over 37,000 students, providing them with access to unique educational experiences.
• 1,366 Teachers Supported: Connected North empowered 1,366 teachers with resources and support to enhance their teaching practices.
• 447 Content Providers: A broad range of experts and organizations contributed to the program, ensuring a rich variety of topics and perspectives.
• 368,539 Minutes of Learning: Students benefited from over 368,000 minutes of live, interactive learning this year alone.

• 93% of Teachers agreed that the program affirms students’ identities and pride in their cultures — a crucial factor for Indigenous youth.

• 89% of Teachers felt more confident using technology as an innovative learning tool after participating in the program.

This year, 56% of Sessions were delivered by Indigenous Role Models, an 8% increase over the previous year — helping students see themselves reflected in their learning journeys.

The program received an outstanding Net Promoter Score of +86, reflecting high satisfaction and strong support from educators and participants.
