Inspiring Others Through Media

My name is Jeanviêr Janga, raised on the island of Bonaire. I started taking pictures and making videos at Bonaire Youth Outreach Foundation’s activities, I never knew how much you could do with media than just set up a camera, film and edit. Back then I didn’t knew you could actually share your story using media. I was a youth that didn’t know what I wanted to do in the future or was not sure on how to share my story with another person or a group of people. When Adobe Youth Voices was introduced in Bonaire at Bonaire Youth Outreach Foundation in 2011 I didn’t only learned the technique on how you can work with software’s by manipulate layers, cutting images and make a poster design or film something and edit the footages. But it also taught me how I can be more creative and more confident to make and share my story through media.
Media making helped me to get to know myself better, know who I am, what I want and how to share my voice. When you know who you are and what you want, you can become more confident and share your story with others. Expressing myself and using my creativity to share my ideas: that’s the greatest impact media had in my life. After that process, I realized that I can use my creativity through media pieces as a profession in the future. In this way I can change my community for a better place.
Media is a couple of tools one can use to share life transforming stories. An I believe that it can also be done in a fun and entertaining way for others to enjoy. This impacted my view of how I would like to invest my time: impacting lifes through media. Share your stories to bring a change using what you are good in for a better you, better community, better place and a better world.
