AYV Exhibit at The 2015 Summer Youth Assembly At The United Nations

In August of this year, TakingITGlobal was once again invited to be part of the Youth Assembly at the United Nations, an event produced and presented by the partnership between the Friendship Ambassadors Foundation (FAF) and the United Nations. TakingITGlobal presented some of our most celebrated art pieces created in the Adobe Youth Voices program, a program we have been running for 5 years in partnership with the Adobe Foundation with the goal of inspiring youth to reconnect with their creative confidence and use it to create change through digital media and art.

The Youth Assembly at the United Nations is an exciting event which takes place every year in New York, where youth from around the world gather to meet and network with other youth leaders who are committed to being part of the achievement of the post 2015 development goals. This year over 600 youth delegates participated in the Youth Assembly, which was held for 3 days, from August 5 ^th to 7^th. The art pieces showcased by TakingITGlobal highlighted the artistic endeavours of youth around the world to raise awareness on issues such as poverty, sustainability, gender equality, social isolation and education, among others.

FAF Executive Director, Patrick Sciarratta kicked off the event with his keynote speech. Sciarratta spoke about culture as a mean to unite people and the importance of having youth as the working force behind achieving the post 2015 development goals, which were approved by world leaders at the start of that week.

During the day, youth were audience to a number of inspiring and educational workshops that delved deeper into social issues, actions being taken by youth, better practices to scaling a project, among other topics that showed how important creativity is for effective problem solving.

For as long as the Adobe Youth Voices art pieces were up, youth delegates and volunteers stopped by to learn more about the arts and the issues being highlighted. The youth were interested in visually experiencing the perspective of their youth peers from across the globe. They were also interested in how art and technology can be combined to help youth develop leadership skills in remote villages and slums.

This event was very powerful in the sense of making room for cultural exchange among the participants, who are either active change makers or prospect youth leaders. Being exposed to youth from other countries that take different approaches to solve problems that they all care about is a boost to their creativity.

It was an honour for TakingITGlobal to once again be invited to exhibit at this inspiring event, contributing to the atmosphere of the event with artwork that was produced by the youth participants of the Adobe Youth Voices project. We are also very proud to be part of a project that inspires youth from everywhere to develop creative confidence, which is very much necessary to effectively create positive lasting change.
