Explore150 Toronto Adventure

Yesterday, Explore150 had the first ever Toronto Adventure! Armed with their smartphones and an eagerness to discover Toronto, participants gathered at City Hall to kick off the fun. The initial meet and greet allowed the group to connect with other adventure goers, to learn about about the Explore150 application, and to decide which sites they wanted to visit en route to the award ceremony & celebration held at the brand new Fort York Library. After forming teams and plotting their strategies, participants were left with 2 and a half hours to explore the city, checking-in, posting photo spots and answering discovery quest questions at as many cultural, historic and natural sites as they could. In a blur of vibrant comments and photos, the challenge came to an end, and one-by-one, participants arrived at their final destination, the newest and ninety-ninth library built in Toronto, to await the results.

While those in attendance enjoyed their much needed post-adventure meal, we had Marco, a staff member from Fort York, speak about the new library and the historical importance of the location. Ron Mitchell, the president of TIG's Board of Directors, also gave his enthusiastic endorsement of the Explore150 program. He concluded by naming Angelika Demissova the winner of the $250 education prize from BMO Financial Group. The turnout was stellar and the fast paced adventure experience was enjoyed by all. This event was the first in a national series of adventures that Explore150 will be running over the coming weeks and months.
