DeforestAction: Project Borneo

Hi everyone, just wanted to say good luck to all the contestants! I just finished exmas and I've finally had the chance to look through all the links everyone posted on all the issues relating to deforestation and orangutans, thanks so much for posting them! So excited about this project and keep it up everyone! I would love to continue learning more! :)

I just found out about this deforest-action site, what an amazing idea and full of so many proactive people, so passionate and all wanting to do their bit for this wonderful earth. And Borneo is definitely one place which needs as much help as it can get. Check out Bruno Manson films and his earlier work, we need an entire clan of his mob to get in there!!! Best wishes everyone and I hope fate decides right for you.

Folks, GOOD NEWS ALERT! :) Remember that Malaysian community that took back THEIR land just over a week ago from a company that had it illegally developed? That company was IOI Group, and now their RSPO certification has been suspended. It's nice to see the RSPO responding to NGO concerns. This could really threaten IOI group's supply contracts with major consumer firms. Nice! {:(|)

Another 3D movie is coming out about conservation of orangutans in Borneo and elephants in Kenya on April 8! http://bit.ly/e7JMkW. It's narrated by Morgan Freeman and starring the amazing Birute Galdikas (I heard her speak at an event called hope4apes a few months ago- her life has been incredible!) and Dame Daphne Sheldrick. What a great year for conservation awareness this is going to be!

Emails have just been sent to 4 different departments at the University of Bristol promoting the project, totalling another 6000 people including loads of biologists :-) Keep up the good work everyone!

AMAZING work promoting everybody!! Folks, there is plenty everyone can do to start making a difference for orangutans and rural communities right now. There is no need to wait until June! If you're interested, check out the link below for a TIG forum thread that will supply you with a wealth of public outreach and activism resources related to the destruction of Indonesia's rich forest ecosystems by various industries. The thread is growing by the day. Awsome job everyone. Ths is a great initiative for making big changes in our world. I look forward to maybe one day collaborating on a variety of other projects with all of you. I believe everyone here has a genuine passion for our planet and every living being in it. I just hope everyone will keep up with Taking it global long after this deadline approcahes. This is a great project that i wish to be a part of, but lest we forget, this is not the only opportunity we have to create change and compassion. there is a large scale number of issues to date that need our attention, passion, and determination in much the same way this project has created. Best of luck to everyone, and although we cannot all be chosen for this project, the amount of press, word of mouth, advertising, and publicity that you all have given this issue, we have already made a significant step forward as acommunity.
