Art. Perspective. Possibility.
25 young leaders have been selected for the pioneer DeforestACTION project aimed at protecting forests, working with local communities and saving orangutans.
DeforestACTION is a global action project involving millions of students from around the world who want to play an active role in stopping deforestation. The project is supported by TakingITGlobal and Microsoft Partners in Learning. We've teamed up with acclaimed conservationist Dr. Willie Smits to create awareness about the destruction caused by deforestation, restore a full forest eco-system and provide a sustainable livelihood for the local community.
Award-winning production company Virgo Productions is developing a 3D feature documentary about the project in collaboration with National Geographic Entertainment. Shooting will take place over 100 days in Borneo. Cathy Henkel, (The Burning Season, The Man who Stole my Mother’s Face) will produce and direct 100 Days in the Jungle: Project Borneo 3D, to be shot by acclaimed cinematographer Don McAlpine (Moulin Rouge, Romeo + Juliet, Wolverine) and Paul Nichola (Cane Toads: The Conquest 3D). A TV series is in development with National Geographic for the second 100 days.
DeforestACTION is selecting 12 young team leaders to lead this global action project - and feature in the 3D movie. Submissions and voting for the applicants have now closed!
A short list of 50 was announced in early May. A top 25 was announced in early June.
All 25 will have a leading role in the project. A smaller group will head to Borneo in September for an orientation and reconniassance trip to meet the local communities and assess the scale of the challenge. They will return in February next year for 80 days to implement their action plans. Throughout the project, they will connect with the world though the web, providing updates to the millions of students across the globe who are responsible for developing and driving the project.

So I submitted my video entry yesterday.... will I definitely receive an email when its ready for people to vote for it???
If you look under the 'Status' heading on the right hand side, there is a link (in blue) to voting which says 'Cast your vote(s) now!'. Just before that it will specify how many votes you have left. Hope these instructions help you Keyzie91!
Thanks Keyzie91 for your advise about editing! And thanks staff for fixing my problem!
daniellenilsson thank you for your link to the undercover info about the Tiger Temple. Interestingly I have met a few people who volunteered there who were unaware of this. Unfortunately it is also promoted heavily as a place to visit in tourist agencies there.
Also, just above all the clips is the same 'Cast your vote(s) now!' (in blue) link.

Hello! Sorry to be a hassle but I'm having the same problem as Nicola - my video cannot be commented on, and I can't edit it. Do you think I could get some help on this?
Also, if you haven't seen this website yet (www.Arkive.org) I would definitely check it out. It's an incredible multimedia guide to the world's endangered species. Films are such a great medium for learning (hint hint!)
@daniellenilsson Do you know any organization active for Tigers! I contact several times with WWF, but seems they are not interested about Sundarban, Bangladesh tigers.... I really want to SAVE
Danielle do you know when the Freedom Walk in India is being held???!
what a pity - I'm actually going to India next week so will miss it :(
Is it true that u can vote three times and since when????? Why do the conditions of entry keep changing?
Hi Louise - yes you can vote 3 times now, i found out yesterday it was posted on here as a comment!
Thanks Danielle! I'm very excited I've been wanting to pack for the last 2 months now!!! :)
Tom - to change your settings so you can edit, you need to log in first, select your video page, on the RHS their should be an option to "edit my submission" and click on this. If you are having trouble doing this, email TIG - the address they sent you when confirming your video is up - and it should be fixed soon.
Also if you are about to submit - try not to include the letters 'ico' in your username, this was a problem for me apparently it sets off some kind of issue with the site!
Have fun in India Flirtini - if you go to Rajastan check out the Artist's Hotel in Jaisalmer, the Austrian man running it has sponsored artists from all over Raj. to continue their craft. You can learn their art from them and support local projects there.
awesome, thanks VAUGHANICOLA, nicola?? :) great tip, I hope to get to that part so I'll def keep that in mind!!! :)Fleur
Hey everyone i dont get much time to jump on the internet and stuff but from what i see everyones doing wonderful things and everyones videos are awesome... Good luck to everyone! I had so much fun making my video so me and a friend put together this little piece, i hope you guys like it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akdd5ITLMBY
Palika03 you are so funny! i love it!
Yes you can now vote three times , wish we were all told this , disappointing that the rules keep changing especially for the original entries that rushed to get in by the march 15 deadline !
Blake you're a clown!! hahaha :)
Hi everyone,
Just to be clear - we don't consider allowing people to vote three times as changing a condition of entry. We had a LOT of e-mail requests from people who came to vote telling us they'd really like to be able to vote for two or three entries - so we decided as a team to expand it and be responsive to that feedback.
Also to emphasize - it's only one variable for selection - we will not be picking participants solely on votes! We'll be considering your experience and commitment to environmental issues and conservation, creativity of your video, your effort raising the profile of the project, and views, ratings, and votes of your video on YouTube and TakingITGlobal. It will be a very hard decision to make!
Thanks for your ongoing feedback and participation!
Howdy all please check out my latest blog, Back In Borneo - http://mickytort.tigblog.org/post/4497739

Mike

hey guys! just wandering how you get commenting enabled on your submission. Does it happen after processing or is it something manual we have to do ourselves?

Thanks very much for the advice Nicola!
@Tcrock, I was having the same issue, but if you look down at vaughanicola's comment, she's explained it perfectly :-)
Friends, *Very* time-sensitive gov't advocacy campaign here for product labeling. Please promote this campaign ASAP to your supporters and friends across Europe. This pre-form letter will be sent to your/their representative on the European Parliament's Committee for Environment, Public Health and Food Safety, which has the influence to ensure that food labels carry full information about ingredients, thereby allowing consumers to make informed purchasing choices. The vote is on April 12, so we must act swiftly. Add your voices, and spread far and wide!! Thanks everybody!

Hey, do you think it matters if your video application is over the maximum time by 1 second (2:01)? I hope not...
Thomas, keep in mind you can always edit your video and re-submit it. According to Mike's previous posting, they will carry over your views/votes from your earlier submission. Don't take my word for it though bud - I'd wait until he weighs in just to be sure. Keep up the good work as always {;(|) I'll shoot you those website recs later this week.
Thomas I recall reading that submissions over 2minutes wouldn't be accepted..but they accepted yours so I think it should be OK - it's only 1 second over!! But yeah like Steve said, you could always re-submit, but your video is already awesome anyway :)
i cant stand the wait!
