BACKGROUND
From the International Day of Climate Action, on October 24, 2009, to January 4, 2010, people of all ages, worldwide, were invited to participate in the Imprints Art Contest.
Participants were invited to contribute original pieces of artwork which explore:
• Ecological footprints – a measure of the pressure placed by human beings on the planet; and/or
• The number 350 – the level in parts per million that UN climate scientists have concluded is the safe upper limit of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
These themes are interconnected because ecological footprints represent our current impact upon the planet while 350 represents a target we need to reach to ensure a more stable climate.
Imprints is part of TakingITGlobal's climate education initiative, Tread Lightly. In addition to the Imprints contest, Tread Lightly features a secondary school climate change curriculum, a themed virtual classroom, and a 40-day footprint challenge. We must plan and work hard to clean our world.I fear the amount of trash that collects daily and blocks the drains. How can we educate our people? Plus the climate change has caused heat and dryness thus increasing pollution in the atmosphere. COP -I wish to contribute towards betterment and copinjg with Climate Change as a Writer and Teacher-
