Art. Perspective. Possibility.
I am an avid downhill and backcountry skier, mountain biker and hiker. After 23 years of being inspired by my adventures in the Canadian Rockies, I have found a way to express my love for this environment by combining it with an interest in woodworking. My passion for mountain pursuits, coupled with a desire to express this passion, through the medium of creative woodcutting, results in works of art that are vivid, colourful and imaginative. I start with a tableau of ¼ inch thick wood, cutting through creating negative space, then casting shadows on the wall. My pieces is are framed in 1" X 1" stained Fir.
My art assumes a different feel depending on the background the piece is placed on. This unique medium allows you to set the tone of the negative space of each piece. The framed cutting may be placed against a window, on a neutral or colourful wall or with a mirror behind it creating an interactive element for each piece.
