We can try screaming harder than some others do, but we sometimes cannot find a chance to close our ears and to think ourselves about our independence and our ability to contact such people who don't merely scream, but want to talk. So instead of losing ourselves in the crowd's voices, we'd better sometimes just close our ears and have a rest.
