The Ex

The CNE has a larger-than-life status in my mind – growing up, it was a highlight of the summer. Every year, my parents would take my brother and I to the Ex, and although we stuck to the same routine, it never lost its appeal – the Food Building, the midway games, the Super Dogs show. Even now, as an adult, I still get a flutter of excitement when I make my (almost) annual visit to the Ex and take the first bite of an ice cream waffle sandwich. As a longstanding Canadian tradition, the CNE was a memorable part of my childhood growing up in the Toronto area.
