i found this via Facebook, NOT one of Eloise's friends! wow dude harsh!! borderline bullying i think, but hey as long as you feel good about making up conspiracies and getting on your high horse talking down to people who's egotistical now, really!!!

Birgit Stephenson

Hey Elle, great use of your degree...good that it wasn't pie in the sky and that you are following through on your convictions. Your wildlife rescue work so far has been a joy to follow and long may it continue. As your Mum I am proud of your passion, and your embracing of life, and feel my job is done. All the best on the journeys ahead...live it all Elle and leave the planet in a better state than you found it. There will always be knockers as this is the yin and yang of life but hey stay true to yourself and those of us that admire you. All is good.

Tim Rylance

Elle. Your destiny awaits. At school when you applied for a leadership position, instead of shining your shoes and combing your hair, you dressed as a wildlife warrior and leapt in front of Chaplain Helen startling all. You likened her flock to some endangered critter or other. This is who you were born to be. Borneo needs you. Tim and Jenny

Wow Eloise - you are a true inspiration! You don't need luck because you are a true Action Agent in real life! All the best :)

Denise Martin

rehabilitating orangutans takes years, not days or weeks. Because of the destruction of the rainforests due to oil palms and logging, sometimes there is NOWHERE for them to be rehabilitated to! Hope you get a chance to find out what it is really like out there, Eloise.

Thanks for sharing that redape, it is quite the conundrum. Need to break the cycle, and I think the best way to do that is through education. You cannot force change on another human being, but you can inspire it. If up and coming generations in Borneo have a greater appreciation for the forest and its inhabitants, logging will potential be reduced...But that in itself is years (potentially decades) away...
Aside from education can anyone think of other tools to use to go about changing not a generation of people, but an entire culture...?

Laura

what about a 3D movie elle?

Hi All, just a bit of an update...
I have decided to put my campaigning on pause for a week to do something a little bit different. I decided to volunteer at the Victorian Alps for a week with a fellow graduate and close friend. The placement runs for 5-days and is assisting with the upkeep of the national park. I am very excited, and a little bit nervous. I am not entirely sure what the work entails, but I have no doubt that I will enjoy being out of the hustle and bustle of Brisbane.
Having completed my tertiary education in Queensland, I am well educated on the ins and outs of sub-tropical rainforests and am curious to see if a difference persists with the Victorian Alps.
Bec, my friend accompanying me jumped at the opportunity to come, and I am so grateful for it. It is so nice knowing in advance that I will be sharing this mini adventure with someone just as passionate, interested and enthusiastic about a rainforest.
I will be sure to take as many photos as possible!
Elle

Elle, to your question of how to change not just a generation of people, but an entire culture, there was an interesting piece in the Jakarta Post a few days back about using religion (Islam) to advocate for the protection of wildlife in Indonesia. Give it a look if you're interested, and best of luck to you in your candidacy!
