Rice Hydroponics

This is a picture of rice hydroponics. Research on these rice plants is attempting to understand how sodium channels function and how the source of nitrogen available to the plant alters its sodium levels. This will eventually allow us to come up with salt-tolerant rice species that can grow in harsh environments. The professor doing this research is Canada Research Chair Herbert Kronzucker of the University of Toronto.
