'Scape

The first image is a photograph from Cypress Hills, Saskatchewan. Over the second, I built a city. This piece is a reflection of the rapid and unsustainable nature of urban development.

In my city, native prairie grasses have long been tilled over for crop land, and then in turn, the land has been swallowed by growing suburbs. Smoothed curved streets, hulking SUVs, identical and enormous homes. A street here could be found in any North American city. And every few weeks, I see more land being peeled back and staked off for new suburbs.

We've been told that Saskatchewan is at a time of economic prosperity, but truly, we are making no progress.
