The Grail

This was a response to the social setting of my high school; a lot of youth here spend their evenings drinking. I feel that this is a waste of their potential- rather than being actively involved in their communities, they get drunk in basements; rather than explore and discover their developing identity, they distort their personalities with alcohol.

That is how this piece developed. To me, the figure in the glass is a human spirit, trapped and distorted. I think youth really do have the ability to make a difference in their communities and world, but most of them experience a disconnect from this opportunity.
