Garded chairs

Garded chairs

Anne-Marie Lavigne

View artist portfolio

As we walk along Maputo streets, we can see them. We can observe their quietness, their ghostness. The guardians of Maputo are those who are there without existing. Statues of time, transmitters of the days and nights. Too patient to be noticed, they materialize the cultural perception of time in Mozambique, there but unnoticed. Like their only working tool, their chairs, they are putting together pieces of memories.
