The Widower

The Widower

'Acrylic on Canvas

A painting in a series of 5. The theme of the series was love. The story true story of this painting, although it could be interpruted differently, is this:

The man sitting in the chair is the widower, by sole fault. The woman projecting from the wall is his late wife. She was set to leave him, and he was set in his thoughts that no man could have her but him. So one night, aught up in his obsession with her, he killed his wife and hid her body in the backyard. So he sits now, constantly in a dark room, with only a candle lit and an old record player repeating the same song over and over, all the while haunted by his only wife. Whether she is really there is up to you to decifer.' - AD
