In the Mines

In the Mines

A tribute to so many lost in the ground. I tried to convey the vulnerability only my imagination can hope to describe in such a circumstance.

There are songs written about the mines. One that has stayed in my mind is sung by Dolly Parton,
It is something like this...
come gather you men so young and so fine
and spend not your lives in the dark dreary mines
It will form as a habit
It will seep in your soul
Till the blood in your veins
runs black as the coal.
Many a lad I have known in my day
who lived just to labor
their whole life away
like a fiend with his dope
and a drunkard his wine
.......Where the rain never falls
Where the sun never shines
It\'s dark and it\'s cold
way down in the mines.
.......

It has been a long time since I sang it so I tried to remember it the best I could.
