I asked my Afghan interpreter why women were required to wear burkas and he responded because it helps prevent men from being tempted into coveting other men's wives.

People have long been mistaken about the fact that it is part of the Islamic culture which puts them into much fallacy.
What i think is when you trust your woman so there is no need to wear burkas. I have seen most men asked their wifes or daughters to wear buraks this means he himself is always try to chase another woman. I myself not in favour of burkas because the burkas help all the prostituters to have prostituting.
I dislike the fact that women without burkas are being gawked at alot. In fact so much to the opposite they\'re considered \"uncommon\".
Burka is and was never, part of original Afghan culture. the culture you can find in Rural areas. In Afghanistan, Pashtons still do not wear Burqa at the villages. I remember a story of one of our relatives saying, for the first time, when someone with Burka had come to our village, kids were running away, thinking that was somekind of goast or feary thing.
In fact, Burqa is imported by some Afghan Urban habitants from niegbouring India in early 19th century and was used by the middle class of Afghans who had used thier originality at the Urban life.
Regratefuly, losing original culture is not the matter of history only, but the process still continues in the cities of Afghanistan where small class of people with imported mixed culture still confront the original pashtoon styles that are the sole representers of Afghan originality.
