The comments about distance are well taken. Actually, it is recommended that eyes be about 1-2 feet away from the computer screen (12-24 inches) as there is radiation that comes out and bombards you and is not healthy for you. The monitor I was using at that time was a small 15\" screen and not very good definition, yet I was able to do a lot of detailed work on the computer very well. I do wear glasses, and use 2 different types one for computer / monitor (near) work and the other for driving or watchihng a movie in a theater (far or longer distance). So the distance issues was NOT a problem at all, even tho clicking on \"view\" offers choices for size of the font which can be made larger. I did not enlarge the text but kept it at the default which is \"medium.\" Hope that addresses the questions.

The most important point is that anyone doing a lot of work at the computer should give consideration to ways of working that will not cause difficulties with prolonged use. There are many ways to avoid such injuries (repetitive stress syndrome or RSS) and if you are interested you can let me know.
