Development Still a Distance Away

This photo was taken from a flat in Malad, a suburb of Mumbai. Though I see the rising slums in Mumbai almost everyday from the local train window, this sprawling stretch of slums never fails to shock!
And the thing that makes it more poignant is the hazy view of the high rises (epitome of the effluent commercial Mumbai) on the horizon. The contrast seems to imply that sustainable development is still very far away.
