This reminds me of some of the estates in Nashville Tennesse. Were you ever in one of these homes?
I did visit the house of a retired army officer there. It was a small piece of Victorian England.
I also stayed in a British house in Shimla, India, a few years ago. Shimla was the summer capital of British India.
