Sri Lanka has hundreds of such man-made tanks. These tanks were built over a thousand years ago under the supervision of Sri Lankan Kings. These kings had the tanks built to preserve rain water and to be used for irrigation.
This tank in the Pollunrawa area is a lake in its own right but an abundance of fish.
